About Us

About UsFounded in Cleveland, Ohio in 1983, by seven progressive, forward-thinking physicians, the International College of Integrative Medicine (a not-for-profit medical society), has since expanded far beyond its original regional environs into a rapidly growing association with nationwide and international membership. One of ICIM's main goals is the education of health care professionals in the latest research-supported techniques and emerging holistic therapies that show promise for improving patient care.

The ICIM mission emphasizes a two-pronged approach: the reversal of chronic degenerative disease and the prevention of such ailments, by increasing the skills, knowledge and procedures available to clinicians amenable to embracing alternative procedures, including nutritional supplementation, chelation and other non-invasive preventive and health-promoting therapies.

In support of its mission, ICIM hosts two industry conferences a year, providing continuing education to health care professionals.

ICIM has also newly created the medical directory, with the goal of helping the public find doctors who offer options in medicine.

Many associations exist that are advancing medicine and bringing together practitioners of the healing arts. Some of our sister organizations are listed on our "Links" page.

However, we believe there are a few things that make ICIM special:

  1. ICIM attains a balance of researched-based scientific theory and practical advice that can be put into use in the office Monday morning.

  2. We come to the aid of our members who are prosecuted for doing integrative medicine with  emotional support, “Friend of the Court” statements, expert witnesses, financial aid, and our innovative ICIM Physicians’ Risk Analysis Program where members can receive immediate advice from experienced peers and legal counsel. We highly recommend that patients and physicians contact the American Association for Health Freedom, which is trying to change the political climate in the United States and ensure the freedom of health choices for us all. 3. American Board of Metal ToxicologyICIM leads the industry in advanced training for Heavy Metal Toxicology and Chelation Therapy. We work closely with our friends at the American Board of Metal Toxicology to increase the number of doctors who are board certified in this important field.
